GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The men's and women's Track and Field teams traveled to Florida this weekend for the Cola-Coca Florida Relays.
1996 All-American Jeremichael Williams finished first in his event the 110m High Hurdles running an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 13.75. The junior Williams, who finished seventh at the NCAA's in the same event last season is currently in fourth place on the all-time performance list with a time of 13.63.
Teammate Greg Hines finished third in the event with a time of 14.26. He is currently behind Williams on the performance list with a time of 13.72.
Another Tiger pole vaulter Davis Hartzler also placed in his event jumping a height of 5.05m (16'6.75"). Hartzler, a senior from Ohio, was an All-American in 1995 and is currently tied for third place on the Clemson all-time performance list. The height he jumped this weekend moves him into third. He was previously in fourth place with a record of 16'0.75".
Also for the Tigers was 1600m sprint medley relay team who ran a time of 3:21.71 for a third place finish.
Senior Matt Helinski finished second in the shot put with a mark of 16.75m (54'4.50").
On the women's side of the events the distance runners all placed in the top ten of the 1,500m run. Senior Tina Jensen came in third for the Lady Tigers with a time of 4:40.32. Sophomre Julianne Littman finished behind Jensen with a time of 4:40.44. Next for the Lady Tigers was sophomre Brantley Epps, a native of Anderson, SC, who finished fifth running a time of 4:43.94. Placing eighth in the event was freshman Shannon Schoppman.
Finishing second in two events was sophomore Aija Koresoja, who placed in both the shot put with a mark of 46'2.75" and in the javelin throwing a distance of 139'4". She is currently in third place on the all-time performance list in the shot pout with a mark of 48'5.25" and fifth in the javelin with a mark of 139'7".
Placing fourth in the triple jump was senior Trevi Frazier, a native of Orangeburg, SC who jumped 11.86m (38'11"). She is in third place on the performance list with a jump of 40'11". The Lady Tigers also placed fourth in the 4x1600m relay with a time of 20:41.06.
The next meet for the Tigers will be at home this weekend at the Clemson Invitational.
